Contraindications:
- Do not use if you have a known sensitivity or allergic reaction to hydroquinone or any of its ingredients.
- The safety of hydroquinone for use during pregnancy or in children (12 years and under) has not been established.
Warnings:
- Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or lips. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and contact a physician.
- Sunscreen is essential when using hydroquinone, as even minimal sun exposure can trigger melanocytic activity.
- Contains sodium metabisulfite, which may cause allergic-type reactions, including anaphylactic symptoms or asthmatic episodes in sensitive individuals. Sulfite sensitivity is more common in asthmatics.
Precautions:
- Apply to small areas of the body at a time, as some users may experience temporary skin redness or a mild burning sensation.
- Pregnancy Category C: The effects of topical hydroquinone on pregnancy are unknown. Use only if clearly necessary.
- Nursing Mothers: It is unknown whether hydroquinone is excreted in breast milk. Use with caution.
