Important Safety Information for Obagi Nu-Derm Clear, Blender®, and Sunfader
(contains 4% hydroquinone)
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
- Do not use if you have a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the ingredients.
- The safety of hydroquinone use during pregnancy or in children under 12 years old has not been established.
WARNINGS:
- Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and lips. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with water and consult a physician.
- Sunscreen is essential when using hydroquinone as even minimal sun exposure can trigger melanocyte activity.
- This product contains sodium metabisulfite, which may cause allergic reactions, including asthma attacks and anaphylaxis, especially in those sensitive to sulfites.
- While sulfite sensitivity is rare, it is more common in people with asthma.
PRECAUTIONS (SEE WARNINGS):
- Limit use to small areas at a time, as some users may experience temporary redness or mild stinging sensations, which are typically not harmful.
- Pregnancy Category C: Hydroquinone’s effects during pregnancy have not been fully studied. Use only if clearly necessary, and under a doctor’s guidance.
- Nursing Mothers: It’s unknown if hydroquinone is absorbed into human milk, so caution is advised.
- Pediatric Use: The safety and effectiveness of this product in children under 12 years old have not been established.
- Discontinue use if any hypersensitivity reactions occur.
